Mikaela Kautzky is a multidisciplinary artist based between Montreal, Vancouver and currently Fogo Island. Slowly completing a BFA in studio art, design and sustainability at Concordia University, Kautzky has taken time off to work as the Communications & Fundraising Coordinator at Fogo Island Arts.

Her practice is heavily influenced by an internalization of climate change and navigating what it means to make art in the current state of the world. With a strong interest in circular waste systems, Kautzky pursues a holistic artistic process by researching the embodied energy in materiality, dealing with subjects pertaining to the anthropocene, and creating work with disassembly and decay in mind. Her projects emerge as installations, experience design, site-specific interventions, paintings, clothing garments, photographs and videos. She addresses waste and DIY culture on various scales, most recently through transitional use of vacant buildings.

Recent group exhibitions include: Seed Bomb (2018), Expo 67 Canada Pavilion, Montreal; Adventure Skateground Release (2018), September, Montreal; Untitled + Friends (2018), Untitled Art Space, Vancouver; Treasured, CUCCR Residency (2018), VAV Gallery, Montreal; Out and About in Abode (2018) September, Montreal. She is a co-founder of the Adventure Skateground collective in Montreal.
